If you’re reading this page you’re planning on training to run a marathon. It isn’t easy to tell you how to run a marathon when I don’t know just how much knowledge you’ve got on marathon training. However I’m going to reveal to you some of the secrets to marathon success based on my personal expertise.
First things first. Your running gear. You’ll need the right kind of clothes and equipment to train. So head out get some comfortable shorts, training tops and socks along with an excellent set of shoes and water bottle. I’ll repeat the point for emphasis – a great pair of shoes is vital.
Next, your running routes. Try to find somewhere that has sloping landscape, continuous change in surfaces, uphill slopes along with downhill and somewhere that you with little traffic. You will probably want to make changes to your routes on a month to month schedule and maybe even weekly or bi-weekly just for a change of scenery so you don’t get bored.
Next, set some goals. It’s vital to have solid and well thought-out goals before you start out your training. You will need to focus on these goals to motivate yourself to train each day that your program tells you to. (Even if the weather conditions are brutal!) You should choose something you genuinely believe in – whether it is your child or satisfying a long held dream to run a marathon or maybe even to prove something for your local community. Imagine crossing the finish line in a marathon in New York or Chicago and feeling like you just told the whole city “I Did It!”.
Once you’ve done these 3 preliminary tasks, you’re well on your way to taking your first real steps towards marathon glory – planning and executing your very first workout.
